SANAA, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Three huge, simultaneous explosions rocked the capital of Yemen's troubled southern province al-Dhalee, the country's Interior Ministry said Tuesday.
In a statement posted on its website, the ministry said the explosions took place late on Monday when some separatist gunmen blew up explosive devices in three remote places of al-Dhalee city.
The ministry said no casualty was reported, but the explosions shook up local residents and interrupted stability and security of the city.
Also on Monday, a group of al-Qaida gunmen blew up a pipeline transferring liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Yemeni Marib province to the Belhaf Port Terminal for export in the southern Shabwa province on Monday, police and official of Yemen Gas Co. told Xinhua.
The provincial police official in Belhaf said that the explosion, which took place in Shabwa province, caused a huge fire and smoke as the pipeline was badly damaged and the LNG supply was cut off.
Besides worries of resurgent al-Qaida regional wing, and fragile truce with northern Houthi-led Shiite rebels, Yemen is also facing growing troubles with armed separatist movement in the south since 2007.
Northern and southern parts of Yemen were unified in 1990 according to a deal between the People's General Congress and the Yemeni Socialist Party. However, the deal fell apart, leading to a crisis between the two allies, which developed into a civil war in 1994
